What skin cycling actually solves
Skin cycling rotates your strongest actives — exfoliants, retinoids — across specific nights instead of using them every single night. The goal isn’t to do less; it’s to give your barrier scheduled recovery time, so the active nights stay effective instead of tipping into irritation.
A four-night INGU rotation
- Night 1 — Exfoliation night: cleanse, then a BHA or AHA step (Anti Acne Gel or Anti Acne Toner Mist) to clear buildup.
- Night 2 — Retinol night: cleanse, then Green Tea Retinol Serum Shot on its own — nothing else active layered on top.
- Nights 3 & 4 — Recovery nights: cleanse, then barrier-focused steps only, like a ceramide-based moisturizer. No exfoliant, no retinol.
- Repeat the cycle, adding more recovery nights if skin feels tight, reactive, or unusually dry.
The part people skip: recovery nights aren’t optional
Recovery nights are what make the active nights sustainable long-term. If skin feels irritated at any point, extend the recovery stretch rather than pushing through — the schedule is a starting point, not a fixed rulebook.
